Vintage MTB page - High Resolution Photos and History
I'm always on the hunt for old school Mountain Bikes and parts, and when I find them I try to document it along the way. Some of the parts and frames that I will share are a little rough around the edges or missing something but are genuine 100% authentic. Reproduction parts have their place, although most of the parts I will post up will be vintage items. Any suggestions for a certain part or frame please contact me through Facebook. I will check and see if I have it and post it up if possible. Thanks, and don't forget to check the other pages~
These Tomaselli Brake Levers came off a 1983 Specialized Stumpjumper Mountain Bike. I do know they made a “Racer” model lever set but do not know the model name of these levers. Super rad 3-4 finger vintage MTB parts Made in Italy. Unfortunately the rubber covers for the lever bodies were/are missing. I’m not sure the full history on Tomaselli cycling parts but would guess they were only made for a few years in the early to mid 1980’s possibly. Fairly rare stuff that would have been found on later model Klunkerz. These would post date the early Klunkers without a doubt.
Overland Equipment Rollercam Brake Protector. When frame builders decided to mount a Roller Cam brake beneath the chainstays it created a new problem. That problem was mud and junk build up on the brake. This mud boot was created to solve this issue. While it did work at keeping the cam and brake pivots clean, it did nothing in terms of keeping mud and grime off the brake pads and braking surface. This part pictured came off a vintage 1986 Gary Fisher Montare mountain bike. Since it’s an aftermarket accessory it’s difficult to date. My guess would be mid to late 80’s. Very rare, have only seen a couple others in the last 20+ years of collecting. It definitely fits a Suntour XC Cunningham Design Brake and quite possibly will fit the WTB Speed Master brake as well.

Shimano Deore LX Brake Levers Part Number BL-M600 Linear Pull. These are Servo Wave and work with V-brakes or Mechanical Disc. Shimano also branded this type lever as DX for the BMX crowd with the same part number but with Red and Black color scheme. These are mid to late 1990’s parts. These levers are servo wave, meaning you can adjust the brake lever feel/modulation from firm to squishy. Also have lever reach adjustment screws. Awesome 2 finger Levers with very little Flex.
Next we have a Cane Creek S2 Headset 1 1/8″ Threadless in anodized Black. The S2 is a mid level offering from Cane Creek and super nice quality for the price. Very under rated headset and unfortunately discontinued. Almost as nice as a Chris King Headset

Specialized Stout Front Hub in 32 hole with matching Oversized Skewer. This hub has (2) Sealed Cartridge Bearings. This hub design reduces flex as it has the larger diameter skewer. Specialized was one of the first co come up with this design which is still used in modern day Mountain Bikes. This specific hub was stock on a 1999 Specialized Stumpjumper M4 Hardtail. Lots of upper end late 90’s Specialized MTB’s had this hub.
